Marie Osmond: Paper Roses

Song: Paper Roses
Artist: Marie Osmond
Year: 1973

Lyrics:
I realized the way your eyes deceived me
With Tender Looks that i mistook for love
So take away the flower that you gave me
And send the kind that you remind me of

Paper Roses, Paper Roses
Oh how those roses are Deceit to me
But There Only Imitation, Like your Imitation Love For Me

I Thought That You Would be a Perfect Lover
You Seemed so Full of Sweetness at The Start
But Like a Big Red Rose That's Made of Paper
There isn't Any Sweetness in Your Heart.

Paper Roses, Paper Roses
Oh how those roses are Deceit to me
But There Only Imitation, Like your Imitation Love For Me

Trivia:
This is a song written by Janice Torre and was first sung by Anita Bryant and then Marie Osmond. The first version was released in 1960 as a single and then was a part of her album 'Anita Bryant In your Home Tonight.' This was Anita's Biggest hit on the Billboard Pop chart- reaching No 5.

Marie Osmond was a part of 'The Osmonds' who were already established stars in the music world. She decided to create a separate image and decided to try to make it big in Country Music. This is the first song that was recorded by her. The song went all the way to #1 on the country charts.

Marie re-recorded 'Paper Roses' with the same producer and in the same studio for her 1990 'The best of Marie Osmond.'

These was a parody of the same song called 'Plastic Noses' and 'Plastic Rose's'.
